She disappeared early in the evening after she left her apartment in the apollo park neighborhood to visit a local tavern. She was last seen wearing a brown suede jacket, blue jeans, a ski cap, and boots. She has never been heard from again. Although never charged in her case, serial killer ted bundy confessed to cunningham's murder. Bundy stated that he lured her into his vehicle by posing as an injured skier on crutches and asking her to help carry his ski boots. He claims he knocked her unconscious, drove her to a remote area about eighty miles west of vail and raped her. He states he strangled her and then disposed of her body in a shallow grave near rifle, co in a high desert area with a circular drive and some large trees. Her body was never found, however. On august 8, 2009, 35 year old samuel schrup's vehicle was found abandoned on shrine pass road in eagle county, colorado. There was a campsite set up in the area of the vehicle. The vehicle had dust and pine cone needles on it, so it appeared to have been there for some time. There was a hand written journal in the vehicle, the entry stated; "About to hike a hill. Ms. Oberholtzer was last seen at 7:50 p.M. On wednesday, january 6, 1982 hitchhiking south out of the town of breckenridge, colorado. Ms. Oberholtzer's body was located approximately 3:00 p.M. The next day on january 7, 1982 on the summit of hoosier pass at 11,000+ feet elevation. A small parking lot is located at the pass summit and the body was found approximately 300 feet further south along the road to fairplay, colorado. The summit is approximately 10 miles south of breckenridge, colorado along colorado state highway 9. The shooting occurred outside in a rural, isolated, mountain area next to colorado highway 9. It would have been dark, possibly snowing, and very cold (-20 degrees f). Death was due to loss of blood from a gunshot wound of the chest, with a second grazing wound to the right breast, and appeared to have occurred at the location of the body. The body was found approximately 20 feet off of the highway, down a snow embankment, and was lying on her back. Items from ms. Oberholtzer's back pack/purse were located approximately 20 miles from the crime scene along us highway 285 south and east toward denver, colorado. The weapon used was a .38/.357 handgun using a remington/peters copper jacketed hollow point bullet. This weapon has not been recovered. A copper jacket from ms. The victim was last seen hitchhiking south from the town of breckenridge. Ms. Schnee was last seen at approximately 4:45 p.M. On wednesday january 6, 1982. Ms. Schnee's body was located 6 months after her disappearance/death on july 3, 1982 in rural park county, colorado approximately 20 miles south of breckenridge. She was shot outside in a rural, isolated, mountain valley area where there would be no witnesses. It would have been dark, possibly snowing, and very cold (-20 degrees f). The death was due to loss of blood from a single gunshot wound to the back, and appeared to have occurred at the location where the body was found. The body was found face down in a small stream, fully clothed, but with clothing in disarray. Cold weather and cold water preserved the body for an autopsy. The weapon used was possibly a .38/.357/9 mm handgun. No bullet was found in the body. Mcclure had called in sick to his plumbing job the day before, and his roommate hadn't seen or heard from him in more than 36 hours. Mr. Mcclure has a history of depression and may have been suicidal. He was last seen wearing a light tan jacket, blue jeans, tennis shoes, and glasses. Mcclure was driving his 1972 gold-painted four-door chevrolet chevelle, which had colorado license plates wpx-187. His vehicle has never been located. Foul play is suspected. Nikolaos stratinas was reported as a missing person from arapahoe county on february 18, 1986.
