The complainant said adam brixey worked with his dad as they prepared an abandoned building at 26th street and adams avenue in ogden for demolition. Officers were told adam would return with a friend to the building after hours and they would look for metal and copper they could sell. On approximately september 20, 2015, adam never returned from the building. Officers were told the friend said adam left the building on his own while they were searching for copper in the building. The abandoned building was searched, but adam was not found. The building has since been demolished, and a new building has been built on the site. There has been no activity on adam brixey’s social security number, and his last known records show that he was in ogden. Ogden police are asking for any information to help in this case.

On 07/15/2021, the complainant called the ogden city police department to report her adult brother, 52-year-old carlos rios, had left on monday morning (07/12/2021) to board a train to california. Carlos was supposed to meet family in oakland but never arrived. Carlos’ phone has been shut off, and no one has been able to contact him. Carlos’ whereabouts are unknown at this time. Officers were told carlos does not have any disabilities, and it is strange that he would disappear and not have contact with family members. Officers attempted to contact carlos on his cell phone, but the call would not go through, and they were unable to leave a voicemail. Officers sent out an attempt to locate the weber county agencies listing carlos as an overdue person. Carlos gil-rios was verified as a missing person on 10/30/2023. There have been no law enforcement contacts with him, and he has entered ncic.

They reported him missing in december, after he didn’t get in touch with them over the holidays.Crosby had been evacuated from new orleans, louisiana to utah after hurricane katrina, and he was well-known in the community for his advocacy efforts with other hurricane katrina evacuees and homeless people. He may be living among the homeless population and may not be carrying any identification with him. His case remains unsolved.

In september 1947, police started a search for truck driver ellsworth wilson mielke, age 33, of salt lake city. His abandoned truck was found parked at the lagoon resort 18 miles north of salt lake city. According to resort attendants, it had been abandoned for some time. When police tracked down the car’s registration, they spoke to ellsworth’s wife. She reported that he had been missing since august 25th, 1947. Ellsworth drove the large truck to tremonton on august 17th and returned to salt lake city on august 25th to his employer, the gould gasoline transportation company. Around 11 am to noon, ellsworth told his boss that he felt ill and was told to go home. He never made it home and was never seen again. A cap and his lunch bucket were found in the abandoned vehicle, and the keys were still in the ignition. His wife said ellsworth, a father of three, was not depressed, but his back sometimes bothered him, and he had experienced blackout spells in the past(though he hadn’t had one in some time).

On november 20, 1934, everett ruess set out alone into the utah desert, taking two donkeys as pack animals. He was never seen again.Earlier in 1934, ruess had told his parents he would be unreachable for nearly two months, but about three months after his last correspondence, they started receiving their son’s uncalled-for mail. They wrote a letter to the post office of escalante, utah, on february 7, 1935. A commissioner of garfield county, h. Jennings allen (the husband of escalante’s postmistress), saw the letter and decided to form a search party with other men in the area. Ruess’ donkeys were found near the north side of davis gulch, a canyon of the escalante river. The only sign of ruess himself was a corral he had made at his campsite in davis gulch, as well as an inscription the search party found nearby, with the words “nemo nov 1934”. Allen reported the discovery of the donkeys and the inscription to ruess’ parents in a letter dated march 8, 1935. On march 15, after completing a last attempt to find ruess in the kaiparowits plateau, allen wrote a final note to the family calling an end to the search efforts.Later searches in late may and june 1935 included an aerial survey of the land from an altitude of 12,000 feet (3,700 m), covering the ground from lee’s ferry to escalante. On the ground, a party of nine horseback riders joined the search, but discontinued their effort a week later.Some believe ruess may have fallen off a cliff or drowned in a flash flood; others suspected he had been murdered.The discovery of a grave site on comb ridge, near the town of bluff, utah, added to the mystery. An elderly navajo claimed that ruess was murdered by two ute native americans who wanted his donkeys. Bones and teeth found in the grave allegedly matched ruess’ race, age, size, and facial features. In april 2009, comparison of dna from the remains and that of ruess’ nieces and nephew, and comparison of the skull to photographs, seemed to confirm that the remains were those of ruess. Two months later, however, kevin jones, state archaeologist of utah, advised the remains probably were not ruess’, since dental records from the 1930s did not match those in published photographs of the body.On october 21, 2009, the associated press reported that dna tests conducted by the armed forces institute of pathology showed the remains were not those of ruess. They identified them as of likely native american origin. A later article in national geographic adventure magazine identified problems in the dna matching software as the source of the error.In march 2010, the family of missing native american joe santistevan was contacted by the armedforces dna identification laboratory (afdil) and was informed that the y-dna of the remains initially identified as ruess matched exactly to santistevan. Afdil found a 13-marker exact match between the man buried at the comb ridge site and santistevan. Afdil then ran another y-dna test and reconfirmed the 13 markers and confirmed four more exact matches. Santistevan’s remains were returned to the navajo nation.

On 5/20/1946, frances taylor (shurtleff) sessions, her son lee sessions (age 6) and her nephew, spencer roberts (age 6) were visiting frances’ father lee shurtleff who was farming in the 100 block above harrison in ogden, utah. At approximately 2:00 p.M. Frances and the two boys went on a hike straight east from the farm to bear cave. As they were hiking, they got into loose shale and began sliding. Frances, who was sliding herself tried to grab the boys but was unable and the boys fell over some cliffs. Frances was able to carry her son down the mountain but he died while she was carrying him. The other boy was able to walk part of the way down where he was picked up by lee shurtleff.Spencer was taken to the hospital and survived. At 4:00 p.M., two hours after her 6-year-old son lee was killed in a fall at bear cave on the mountain slope at the head of 2nd street, frances disappeared from her parent’s home. A missing person report was made by mrs. Tolhurst reporting frances left her father’s home, 916 26th street (ogden, utah) after the accident in which her son was killed and has not been seen since. Frances was described as “probably overcome with grief.” officers were given a description of frances and the clothing she was last seen wearing, 5’3, 97#, aring dark grey slacks, blue blouse, brown shoes, fair complexion. Officers were told frances was still wearing her clothes from the accident. Ogden police investigators pursued numerous leads across the united states, but frances has never been located and remains a missing person.

On december 5, 2015, around 5 pm, a resident in the 17000 block of med bar road, off of orme road outside dewey arizona, called to report a trespasser. The man, later identified as haruchika miyagi told her he was looking for a place to stay and she declined to allow him to remain on her property. Haruchika sped away in the red mazda sedan and crashed through a gate before leaving the property. Deputies found the mazda two hours later in a wash near the med bar road property. It was abandoned and heavily damaged. Friends and family reported haruchika missing as they were concerned becuase he did not show up for work. His family does not know why he went to arizona. A search and follow-up with local hospitals has been unsuccessful. Haruchika may have a cell phone with him, but recent checks indicate it is off.

Jesse glen pinegar flew to hawaii from his home in orem, utah for a vacation in january 2008. He hiked into the kalalau valley and set up a campsite five miles from the trailhead. He stayed in contact with his family by cellular phone. His family last heard from him on march 24, 2008. He told them he was going to take one last hike before coming back home to attend a family event. He has never been seen again. After his disappearance, another hiker found pinegar’s campsite abandoned with all his personal belongings, including his clothing, camping equipment and ipod, only his wallet, cellular phone and backpack were missing.
